Classification and Diagnosis of Headache

Abstract
In the differential diagnosis of disorders producing headache, a well systematized approach to the classification and diagnosis of headaches is an essential guideline to clinicians in the field of pain. The International Headache Society (IHS) has revised the International Classification of Headache Disorders (ICHD-2). ICHD-2 provides improved understanding of some headaches and identification of new disorders. Pain specialists and neurologists should become familiar with the revised criteria. In this review, overview of the revised HIS classification, comparison with the previous classification and a practical approach to headache diagnosis using this new classification will be discussed.
